GoLI-RCC-VSMMC Partnership for a sustainable program in Cebu

It was in 2017 when talks between Gift of Life International (GOLI), Rotary Club of Cebu (RCC), and Vicente Sotto Medical Center (VSMMC) started. The plan is to start a pediatric cardiac program that is sustainable. The vision is to have a heart center in Cebu so that Visayas and Mindanao patients do not need to travel to Manila to get their hearts fixed. It is truly exciting!

To make this come true, Gift of Life will mobilize a Visiting Training Team (VTT) of doctors and other medical staff who will come to Cebu to train the doctors and medical staff of Vicente Sotto Hospital. GOLI will also donate equipment and medical supplies needed for the missions. Visits will happen once every quarter and the program will last for 3 years starting 2018. All patient screening will be done at the Child Survival Center of VSMMC.

2018

June 17 - 30 with 44 children treated

16 children treated with open heart

18 children treated with interventional catheterization

13 children received diagnostic catheterization (2 of each also had surgery)

additional 61 children were screened with 29 of them being placed in the list of surgery during future missions

September 10-14

all diagnostic catheterization procedures

December

17 children treated with interventional catheterization

3 children received diagnostic catheterization

2019

June 8-22 with 23 children's hearts healed in 38 completed procedures
